We stand alongside young people facing serious diseases, recognizing the supplemental support needed in their daily lives and life transitions. Support that promotes personal development, maintains realistic hope and champions societal inclusion. From addressing the burdens of serious disease by complementing care with promising holistic approaches, to recognizing the vital intersection of physical and mental health, to strengthening community and family capabilities, we create lasting pathways that support both their lived reality and successful transitions into adulthood.
Our My Child Matters Program
Launched in 2005, My Child Matters is our flagship initiative empowering children and now, youth facing serious diseases - ensuring no young person is left behind due to geography, income or systemic inequity. What began as a pioneering effort to address geographic inequalities in childhood cancer survival has evolved into a broader commitment to transforming the life trajectories of young people across the full spectrum of serious diseases. Building on nearly two decades of impact - including a median 5.1% increase in cancer survival rates over 10 years. The program has supported more than 300,000 children and trained more than 60,000 healthcare professionals since its inception. We are now applying these proven principles to serious diseases beyond cancer, scaling what works and reaching more young people than ever before.
Areas of Focus
We fund local projects owned by hospitals, non-governmental organization and foundations, collaborating with regional and global organizations to scale successful initiatives focusing on:
Family Support
Providing assistance to caregivers and families to prevent treatment abandonment across all serious diseases
Care for Children
Improving access to diagnosis, treatment and palliative care and pain management regardless of condition or geography
Strengthening Healthcare Systems
Building lasting local capacity through healthcare professional training and early diagnosis initiatives that serve children facing any serious disease.
Expanding Beyond Cancer
The principles that have made My Child Matters successful for nearly two decades - local ownership, family empowerment and healthcare system strengthening - are equally powerful when applied to the full spectrum of serious diseases affecting children and youth. Whether facing cancer, rare diseases or other serious health conditions, every young person deserves support and opportunities they need to thrive. This evolution reflects not a departure from our roots, but a deepening of our conviction that strategic, evidence-based intervention at pivotal moments in young lives generates the greatest and most lasting change.
